what makes cap the best?

a different approach | a different philosophy
Complete Appliance Protection ® (CAP) is different from other home warranties in several ways.
CAP has no deductible. CAP has never offered a program with a deductible since its inception in 1998. CAP pays 100 percent of parts and labor to fix the appliance.
CAP protects everything within the sheet metal skin of the appliance. Whether it is the rack in the dishwasher, tank on the water heater, or compressor on the air conditioner, CAP protects the homeowner.
Unlike most of its competitors, CAP does not have any exclusions for pre-existing conditions or rust. So if the heat exchanger on the furnace develops a crack resulting from rust, CAP provides protection. CAP only has four exclusions: abuse (six year old jumps on an open dishwasher door breaking it), cosmetic damage (the paint on the dishwasher gets scratched), unsafe/code violations, and finally, acts of God that are covered by a homeowner’s policy (tornado, lighting, etc.).
The CAP brochure is easily read and understood.
If the appliance is not repairable or is uneconomical to repair, CAP will help with the replacement of that appliance. CAP has a published reimbursement schedule on its brochure showing the exact dollar provided toward replacement. Do not be fooled by other home warranties that claim they have full replacement on the protected items. The appliance must first pass all the exclusions, such as pre-existing conditions, rust, specific parts and other items excluded in their agreement. As part of their terms and conditions, other home warranties have no obligation to match the make, model, color, or optional equipment. A consumer may be stuck with whatever appliance the home warranty company has contracted for, with no shipping and installation. CAP does not play these games. With CAP, the consumer chooses the make, model, color and options of the appliance being replaced.
The buyer always comes away from a problem with the appliance repaired and working properly, or CAP contributes toward the purchase of a new appliance.
CAP maintains, if possible, a large network of servicers in each area. The homeowner is not confined to one servicer, but has several choices. If the homeowner already knows of a servicer in town that they know, CAP will work with the homeowner and servicer so the homeowner can use someone they trust.
CAP protects the major built-in appliances in the house: heating/cooling, water heater, dishwasher and range. For an additional charge other appliances, and the pipes and wiring in the home can be protected. Please see the brochure for pricing information.
Most warranty companies want the buyer to forget they have protection. After the company has received payment, they do nothing to remind the homeowner that they have the protection. However, CAP sends a welcome packet after closing to the new homeowner. The welcome packet includes a cover letter welcoming the homeowner to the program, another brochure, and the agreement. The packet also includes a large refrigerator magnet, which they can put up to remind them they have the service.
Realtors exert a major influence in the housing industry. CAP wants Realtors to know about and believe in its home warranty program. CAP is willing to give any Realtor who enrolls in its Monthly Program a 30 percent discount for as long as they are on the program. If you personally experience the program, you will become a believer. To enroll in the Monthly Program, select Download CAP Brochure, print, complete the enrollment section, attach your business card for the 30 percent discount, and mail it to CAP with your first month’s payment.
Finally, most Realtors give a house warming gift to their buyers. One study said the average house warming gift runs about $60. So instead of flowers, a gift certificate to a restaurant or some other gift, why not give the gift of a home warranty for $70? Click the CAP House Warming Gift.
